Les Miserables

Les Miserables, a straight play adaptation
the stats:
Directed by Colleen Rua
Presented by Arlington Children's Theater
Cost: $50 to $70 from a budget of $495
Scope of Work: Design costumes for 33 actors and assemble these from stock, actors' own clothes, and thrift store purchases over a period of 6 weeks
Director's Concept: Set in 1830s, costumes literally interpret period and character; inspired by other productions of the same play
My Concept: Adherence to 1830s period (as well as one can without making anything from scratch), marked difference between rich and poor
How I feel about it now: More or less satisfied, especially considering that nearly everything was found as is. Having learned more about period, though, I think that now I would be able to get closer to a true representation even using modern clothing as a base.
