The Servant of Two Masters: Millinery

While working at my college costume shop, I was assigned to be milliner on a production of The Servant of Two Masters. I didn't actually design any of these pieces, but I constructed them in line with designs which had been made. Click the pictures to see bigger versions! Especially the cavalier hat. I love that hat.
Truffaldino's hat: based on a weird hat we had already, out of blocked felt
Porters' hats: plain square-ish flat caps
Waiter's hat: something like a fez out of wide-wale corduroy stiffened with foam
Brighella's hat: like a fluffy chefs hat, with tulle inside to make it stand up nicely
Dottore's skullcap; plain cotton
Dottore's hat: a round brimmed hat with two brims; the brims are tacked up over the face so the actress could be seen
Dottore's whole hat system
Pantalone's skullcap; corduroy
Cavalier hat for Federigo (Beatrice); blocked felt, much handsewn trim, hand-dyed feathers
It got thrown around a fair bit. The button accent helps the flip stay in place
I am inordinately proud of this hat.
Look at its majestic feathered glory.
